— For roofing contractors

Roofing takeoff that
respects the slope.

Plan area isn't roof area — miss the slope factor and you're short on membrane before you start. Pilars takes off the field, the perimeter and the penetrations, and keeps the slope honest.

Field, perimeter, penetrations

A roofing bid is squares of field membrane, linear feet of perimeter and edge metal, insulation by thickness and R-value, and a penetration count that drives flashing and labor. Pilars measures roof area with slope accounted for, pulls insulation off the spec, traces the perimeter and counts the penetrations and curbs — so the material list and the labor reflect the real surface, not the flattened plan view.

Insulation and code live in the spec

R-value and tapered insulation requirements come from the spec and the energy code, not the plan, and they swing both material and crew hours. Pilars reads the spec for the assembly and insulation, flags the code-driven scope, and returns confidence-scored quantities sourced to the sheet. You review and price; the measuring and the spec-reading is handled.

  • Field membrane in squares, slope-corrected
  • Perimeter, edge metal and flashing in LF
  • Insulation by thickness and R-value from the spec
  • Penetrations, curbs and drains counted

Questions estimators actually ask

Does it account for slope, or just use plan area?

It corrects for slope, because plan area undercounts membrane on anything but a dead-flat roof. That undercount is a classic roofing bid miss.

Does it pull insulation requirements?

It reads the spec for insulation thickness and R-value, including tapered requirements, which the plan alone doesn't tell you.

Does it count penetrations and flashing?

Yes — penetrations, curbs and drains counted, perimeter and flashing traced in linear feet, since that's a big chunk of the labor.

Commercial or residential?

Built for commercial low-slope work where the area, insulation and penetration math is heaviest. It'll handle steep-slope, but the savings are largest on commercial.
