So the Mac field is really the browser field. Seven tools run natively, and among those the differences are price model and what the AI actually does. The Windows column is there for one reason: if someone in your office suggests "just run OST in Parallels", you can point at the table and at the cost of a Windows licence, a Parallels licence and a machine with enough memory for both.
What a Mac shop should actually check
"Works on Mac" is a spectrum. Here is the checklist we would run on any tool, including ours.
- Browser-native, not "web version". Some vendors have a full Windows app and a thinner cloud product with fewer tools. Ask which one the demo is showing you, and whether the Mac experience is the whole product.
- No Parallels, no Boot Camp. Boot Camp is not supported on Apple Silicon at all, and a VM means you are administering Windows anyway. If the answer to "does it run on a Mac" involves either word, it is a no.
- Apple Silicon. Anything that runs in Safari or Chrome does not care whether the machine is M1, M2, M3 or later. Anything that ships a native binary might. Browser-based tools sidestep the question.

- Large PDFs. A 120-sheet set at 300 dpi is a big file. Does the upload go through on a normal office connection, and does the viewer stay responsive on a MacBook Air, not just the rep's tower?
- Excel export that opens cleanly in Mac Excel and Numbers. The takeoff is useless if the BOQ comes out with broken formulas or a format Numbers refuses. Open the export on the Mac before you buy.
